Would You Walk 500 Miles For Me?

If not, I’m not interested.

I’ve long loved the song “I’m Gonna Be” by The Proclaimers. Just thinking that someone would walk 500 miles and then another 500 miles to fall down at someone’s door is so unbelievably romantic. Though this is damn near impossible, it shows the depth of someone’s love.

Throughout my teens and early 20’s, I gravitated towards assholes. It’s the sad truth. The bigger of an asshole you were, the more I would want to date you. In this way, I welcomed men to treat me like crap.

It took finding and accepting myself to understand I deserved better. I spent two very valuable years abroad, in the Netherlands, where I was alone and therefore forced to understand and accept myself. It was the loneliest time of my life but also the time of the most growth.

I returned home with a new found confidence. This confidence resulted in meeting my husband nearly 10 years ago.

Would he walk 500 miles for me?

Yes.

So how does one know if someone would do the impossible for them?

He/She makes you a better version of yourself.

I have become so much more self-aware after meeting my husband. He’s opened my eyes to skills I never knew I…
